It’s been a very busy start to the new school year, but we’ve already been having lots of fun in year three.
There’s been lots of changes to get used to, but I have been feeling extremely proud of 3M for behaving so well. 3M have been setting a great example to other classes.
I have already chosen Lucas Brown and Tom Kirkwood to take the guinea pigs home and Adam Halliday and Michael Ogwin are getting our first certificates! Well done boys!
As a special treat for our class I have booked us a Roman themed trip for the very near future. Watch this space…

3M have adopted two baby chicks this week.
They were very poorly, and couldn’t get out of their eggs by themselves. After lots of love and care, they seem to be doing well.
We are hoping that Shellie and Millie can stay with us until the summer holidays when they will be big enough to go to a loving home.
What do you like best about our chicks?

On Monday 30th March Year 3 will be travelling back to Viking times! They will be stepping aboard their time machine and arriving at Martin Mere approximately 1200 years and one hour later.
As real live Vikings all the adults and children on the trip will be dressed in authentic clothing. We will be foraging in the forest for food and eating around a roaring campfire.
After we’ve explored the Viking village, we’ll be making felt and taking part in some weapons training!
Watch this space for some of the exciting photo’s of our trip!

On Friday (7th) year 3 are being invaded by the Vikings!
The Viking Society are coming to school to run a theme day to conclude our topic.
The day will be split into several different activities which include; handling Viking artefacts, Viking storytime, an illustrated talk, dressing up, weapons and warfare training and Viking crafts. The day promises to be very exciting!
The children would be very welcome to bring in any Viking related books/pictures/costumes they may have at home.
Mrs McCartney will be filming the day and children will have the opportunity to watch themselves next week. In addition, children will be given a souvenir photograph to bring home.
We do hope you will feel able to support our theme day by contributing towards the cost of running it. Your child should have brought a letter home today.
If you have any questions please see Mrs McCartney or Mrs Blakely.

Next week is World Book Day and we will be participating in a number of activities to celebrate. On Thursday, all junior children should come to school dressed as their favourite book character. 3M will have the chance to explain to the class which character they have come as so please make sure you know who you are!
We will be having ten minutes silent reading every day after lunch. Make sure you have a good book (you can bring one from home – even I will be!)
The Y3 parents’ lunch is on Wednesday. If your adult would like to join us to experience the new healthy menu then please ask them to arrive at twelve o’clock. They can either enjoy a school lunch or bring their own packed lunch!
Charity Week will be the week commencing 10th March, not next week as the newsletter said.
Have a lovely weekend 3M, your homework is to be extra helpful at home and look after your mum! I hope they like the surprises we made.
See you on Monday,
Mrs McCartney xxx

3M are having some special visitors this afternoon. Watch this space to find out who they were and what we got up to!
It turned out that our special guests were three pilots! Mrs McCartney invited them to come and spend the afternoon with us.
We had so much fun! We drew pictures of planes and of Rich, Craig and Eoin in their uniforms. Rhianon, Paddy and Amy Parr were chosen as the winners of the picture competition.
Craig showed us how to make paper aeroplanes. We even tested them out in the corridor!
We were able to ask our new friends lots og questions about aeroplanes, airports and what it is like to be a pilot. After we had found out lots of interesting things, Craig, Rich and Eoin let us try on some of their uniform for some photo’s.
We hope they’ll come and visit us again sometime soon!
